What We Do

You are here

As the governing body for all undergraduate students, the Student Senate aims to promote positive change on campus and be the primary outlet for student ideas and concerns. To accomplish this, we solicit feedback from the student body, frequently meet with administrators, and discuss key issues facing Lehigh students. Our Full Senate meetings (held on Tuesdays at 4:30PM in Sinclair Auditorium) are the main avenue for large-scale discussions and decision-making. At these meetings, we listen to presentations from administrators, vote on bills and resolutions, and elect leadership positions. Both during and outside of our meetings, the Student Senate performs many essential functions across campus:

  • Recognize new clubs and organizations
  • Provide funding for Senate-recognized clubs, including The Brown & White, LUEMS, Marching 97, and hundreds more
  • President & VP Leadership attend quarterly Board of Trustees meetings
  • Notify students of key campus news and events through our Southside Up newsletter and Instagram page
  • Host inclusive events, such as the Lehigh-Lafayette Tailgate, Dîner en Blanc, and Spring on the Southside
  • Elect student representatives to various faculty committees
  • Lead the selection of a commencement speaker
  • Known amongst the administration, staff, and faculty as the main body to spread information and solicit feedback from students
  • Foster relationships between the Lehigh and Bethlehem communities
  • Plan events, campaigns, and initiative that address campus issues such as Safety & Wellness and Diversity & Inclusion
  • Report directly to administrators and offices across campus to convey student feedback, including but not limited to: Communications and Public Affairs, Dean of Students, Dining Services, Finance and Administration, Library and Technology Services (LTS), Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Office of Housing Services, Parking Services, President's Office, Student Affairs, and Student Auxilary Services
